The Offener Stall, meaning “Open Barn” in German, offers a unique opportunity to experience a bit of rural life without leaving the city.
The Offener Stall is part of the GZ Heuried, a community center that aims to connect people with nature. On the first Friday of each month, weather permitting, the barn doors swing open to the public. For a small fee of 5 Swiss Francs, visitors can step inside and interact with the animals.
Here, you can help feed the animals and even try your hand at mucking out stalls. Kids will particularly love roasting “Schlangenbrot” (snake bread) over an open fire and sipping on refreshing syrup. It’s a chance to learn about where your food comes from and experience the joy of connecting with farm animals.
