The K11 Ecoast in Shenzhen will open at the end of 2024. The project costs US$1.4 billion. New World Development Company and China Merchants Shekou Holdings are developing it. The space has a split-level entryway. It leads to restaurants with 270° sea views. There are immersive, multi-sensory art spaces. The HACC Art Space will show contemporary works. It offers young Chinese artists a platform.
The K11 HACC uses the SITES rating system. This guides sustainable landscape planning. It also guides design and development. Environmentally friendly materials are selected. Opportunities for energy-saving are identified. Water management systems are planned.
K11 HACC embraces the “Sponge City” concept. This is for sustainable stormwater management. Rainwater catchments and rain gardens will be designed. They manage the site runoff volume. The rainwater will be reused for landscape irrigation. This reduces outdoor water use.
The project reduces the heat island effect. It uses strategic tree coverage. K11 HACC depends less on air conditioning and heating systems. It protects rare planting resources.
During construction, 60% of materials will be purchased within 500 miles. 75% of structural waste will be diverted. 95% of road materials will be recycled.
