Assembléia de Deus Cristo Salva’s story is interwoven with the lives of Cássio and Noeli Colombo. In 1968 amidst financial struggles they embraced the word of salvation. They dedicated their lives to Jesus. Despite a chance to rebuild financially the call to ministry grew stronger. Soon many young people gathered at Tio Cassio and Tia Noeli’s home. Their love created a unique church. It was joyful and engaging.
With their three children the couple welcomed all. Many found salvation. Many received healing. The church rescued many young people from drugs. Countless families found restoration. Today Tio Cassio is gone but Tia Noeli continues to lead. The church keeps growing.
Assembléia de Deus began in Brazil in 1911. Daniel Berg and Gunnar Vingren founded it. They were Swedish missionaries. They arrived in Belém Pará. Initially it was called Missão de Fé Apostólica. It later changed to Assembleia de Deus in 1918. By 2013 the Assembleias de Deus had 12 million members in Brazil.
