Showa Women’s University Junior College was established in 1950. It offered women a unique educational experience. It ceased operations in 2014.

The college was also known as Showa Women’s Junior College. It was not affiliated with other Showa institutions. These other institutions included Showa University and Showa Pharmaceutical University.

In 1987, Showa Women’s University Junior College had 1080 students. The college underwent restructuring. By 2002 it had narrowed to two departments. By 2009 it was further reduced to one department.

The motto was “Be the Light of the World”. Showa Women’s University Junior College aimed to empower women. It wanted them to contribute meaningfully to society.

The curriculum evolved over the years. It adapted to the changing needs of its students. The college initially offered Japanese Literature and English Literature. Home Economics was added in 1951. Food Science and Clothing Science were added later. Elementary Education was established in 1958.

In 1970 the departments were renamed. Japanese Literature became Japanese Literary Studies. English Literature became English Literary Studies. Home Economics became Home Economics Studies. Food Science became Food Science Studies.

In 1986 specialized courses were established. These included Japanese Literature and English Literature. Home Economics and Food Science were included too.

The college merged several courses in 2003. It created the Department of Human Culture. This offered students a broader academic foundation.

Showa Women’s University Junior College closed its doors in 2014. Its legacy lives on through its alumnae. These women have made their mark in various fields. They embody the college’s spirit of empowerment and contribution. The campus is now integrated with Showa Women’s University.
