In 1952, it began with a group of young people. They had connections to the Swedish Alliance Mission. They formed SMUF. This was the Stockholm Mission and Youth Association.
By 1959, the SAM congregation in Stockholm was officially formed. A house was purchased in Gubbängen in 1960. It served as a parsonage. It was also a base for youth activities. Larger gatherings took place elsewhere. They used the Evangelical Brethren’s hall. It was located on Sveavägen.
The congregation secured its own rental space. It was near Slussen in 1970. The space was renovated to suit their needs. A significant decision was made in 1982. The members decided to build a church. It would be on Skarpnäcksfältet.
Skarpnäckskyrkan was ready for dedication in 1985. Today the congregation actively serves the Skarpnäck area.
Skarpnäckskyrkan strives to be welcoming. It is open to all regardless of background.
Personal membership requires a commitment. Members must want to belong to Christ. They must confess Him as Lord and Savior. This is confirmed through baptism.
