Marvelous aren’t they? Those golden Buddhas inside Jing Yin Temple. This magnificent temple stands proudly in Scarborough a testament to Buddhist faith and artistry. Jing Yin Temple is a branch of the True Buddha School founded by Grand Master Lu Sheng Yen. Master Lian Xong designed and oversaw much of its construction. He patterned the temple after ancient Chinese Buddhist architecture.
Volunteers built the temple. They worked tirelessly for over two years completing construction in 2012. The exterior resembles elements of the Forbidden City. Notice the ceramic roof tiles and stone walls. See the beautiful pagoda? The dragon relief? And the lion statues guarding the entrance? They are all carefully crafted details.
Step inside the main worship hall. Prepare to be awestruck. The main shrine is simply magnificent. It features over 100 gold-plated bronze Buddhas. The largest Buddha at the top is said to weigh a ton each. That’s a lot of gold!
Look closely at the smaller shrines on either side. Hundreds of intricately carved tiles adorn the walls. Their colors shimmer in the soft light. They add to the temple’s spiritual atmosphere. The basement hosts meetings and gatherings. It also houses a smaller shrine.
This is more than just a building. Jing Yin Temple is a vibrant center of faith. It serves as a place for spiritual practice and community. Visit the offering table. You can purchase incense and food offerings. These are later donated to food banks. This shows the temple’s commitment to community outreach. It goes beyond its spiritual role.
