Residential buildings were limited until the 1960s. Luxury apartments were built. They offered servant’s quarters. A large castle called Eucliffe once stood overlooking the beach. It boasted a swimming pool a greenhouse and a tennis court. This impressive structure was sadly demolished to create space for apartments.
Today Repulse Bay remains a symbol of wealth and luxury. Tencent’s CEO Pony Ma bought a house here. The price? A staggering US$57 million. Twin townhouses sold for an unbelievable HK$1 billion. That’s about $970,000 per square meter. Even Li Ka-shing Hong Kong’s richest man lived nearby. Repulse Bay its history and its present are a captivating blend.
