Between 2014 and 2023, Arlington and Loudoun counties saw a staggering 90% increase. Fairfax County, also in Northern Virginia, employed over 30,000 developers in 2023, the highest number in the DMV. This growth is fueled by the presence of major federal agencies like the Pentagon, as well as private sector giants like Amazon and Northrop Grumman. Educational institutions like George Mason University and the upcoming Virginia Tech Innovation Campus further strengthen the region’s tech talent pipeline. While Innovation, Virginia itself might be a small village, it’s situated within this dynamic tech landscape. So, while it may not be a Silicon Valley, Innovation benefits from the vibrant energy and opportunities of the surrounding region. The DMV’s unique blend of government, private sector, and academic institutions positions it for continued growth and innovation in the years to come.
