Founded in 1949 Tzafria is a unique moshav. It stands as a testament to resilience and faith. This religious moshav near Ben Gurion International Airport holds a fascinating history. Its story begins not with grand pronouncements but with the quiet determination of immigrants. Czechoslovakian and Hungarian immigrants. They sought a new life in the land of Israel. They chose to build their future on the land of the depopulated Palestinian village of al-Safiriyya.

Initially called Safria Alef the name was changed. It was then Kfar Tzafria before settling on Tzafria. The name itself is a connection to its past. A nod to the previous community that once thrived on this land. Tzafria wasn’t just a physical resettlement. It was a spiritual undertaking for those who established the community. A shared act of faith and hope.

The Ottoman period before Tzafria’s founding is also essential to its story. The land belonged to the Nahiyeh of Lod. This subdistrict stretched from Modi’in-Maccabim-Re’ut in the south to El’ad in the north. It encompassed the Lod Valley and reached the outskirts of Jaffa. Thousands lived in about 20 villages. They managed tens of thousands of hectares of fertile land. Tzafria today cultivates this legacy. It continues the long tradition of agriculture in this area. The residents are the modern continuation of this history.

Today Tzafria stands as a symbol of renewal. A thriving community built on the foundations of the past. A reminder that even amidst change hope and faith can endure. A place of quiet strength in a vibrant region. This small religious moshav is a hidden gem of Israel’s history. A testament to the spirit of those who built it. A place worth visiting. A place worth remembering.
