Mass times are varied to accommodate different schedules. Weekday masses are held at 8:00 AM. Saturday offers masses at 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Sunday masses are at 9:00 AM 10:30 AM 12:00 PM and 7:00 PM.
St. Maria Goretti Catholic School shares close ties with the parish. The school opened its doors in 1955. It has grown significantly over the years. By 1960 an addition was needed to accommodate the growing student population which reached 550. The original building was completed in 1964.
In 1993 the Metropolitan Separate School Board now the Toronto Catholic District School Board allocated funds for another addition. A committee of staff and parents decided that a new school building was necessary. Renovations would have been more expensive and would not have addressed the overcrowding issue.
The new St. Maria Goretti Catholic School building was approved in 1995. The Building Committee chose the architects. They worked closely with them throughout the entire design process. Students also had input into the design.
The school boasts a double gymnasium with a stage. Every classroom has closed circuit television. There is an elevator for accessibility. The Ark is an assembly area that can accommodate up to 300 people. The Ark is used for small productions and concerts minimizing disruption to physical education classes. Geometric shaped animals march in twos along the corridors heading for the Ark.
The school and parish are named after St. Maria Goretti. She was born in Italy in 1890. She was murdered in 1902 at the young age of 12. Maria was canonized in 1950. Her mother and attacker both attended the ceremony. The church honors St. Maria Goretti on July 6. She is the patron saint of children.
