Founded in 1993 by Pe. Gilberto Maria Defina, sjs, the Fraternidade Jesus Salvador’s mission centers on praising God. This is done through liturgical practices. It also involves personal and communal sanctification under the Holy Spirit’s guidance. This spiritual approach is rooted in the fundamental aspects of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal.
Pe. Gilberto Maria Defina, sjs, who passed away in 2004, stated that they believe in the outpouring or baptism of the Holy Spirit. They give witness to this in every time and place. The Salvista spirituality finds its foundation here.
At the heart of the Igreja Batista Filadu00e9lfia, they aspire to express continuous worship and adoration to Jesus Christ. They aim to produce fruits of holiness for humanity through their consecration. Jesus Salvador desires each member to be a true servant of His salvation. Servants do what their master commands. Jesus orders them to spread and testify to the salvation in His name throughout the world. God anointed them with the Holy Spirit and power. Like Jesus, they must go everywhere doing good. They heal and liberate people captive to various forms of slavery.
Servants of Jesus Salvador learn from their Master. They imitate His life in doctrine and action. They see Him as a Savior who saves, heals, and liberates. This embodies the true essence of charismatic men and women. They are reborn of water and the Spirit. Jesus preached the Word and healed those brought to Him. His preaching was filled with anointing. Therefore signs, cures, miracles, and wonders accompanied his preaching.
The Fraternidade Jesus Salvador seeks only to fulfill the Lord’s command. They see this as their obligation. They are called Servants of Jesus Salvador. They become docile instruments of His saving grace for His people. They actualize this salvation, collaborating with Christ’s work.
The Instituto Missionu00e1rio Servos de Jesus Salvador was founded on September 17, 1994. It was founded in the Diocese of Santo Amaro- Su00e3o Paulo, Brazil. The diocesan priest, Pe. Gilberto Maria Defina,sjs founded it. Dom Fernando Antu00f4nio Figueiredo, bishop of the Diocese, approved it. It was approved as a Clerical Religious Institute of Diocesan Right on November 10, 2014.
The IMSJS comprises Salvist religious members and priests. It is the first branch of the FRATERNIDADE JESUS SALVADOR. The Fraternidade also includes the Instituto Missionu00e1rio Servas de Jesus Salvador. This encompasses religious branches. SER, Servos Evangelizadores do Reino, gathers lay members. A youth movement called Juventude Salvista also participates. All contribute to their spirituality, charism, and mission.
Initially, the founder chose the name “Fraternidade Javu00e9 Salvador”. However, in June 2008, the Congregation for Divine Worship and Discipline of the Sacraments directed that the name YHWH no longer be used in the Liturgy. Out of obedience to the Pope, they changed their religious family’s name to “Fraternidade Jesus Salvador”.
The male Institute became the “Instituto Missionu00e1rio Servos de Jesus Salvador”. They became known as “SALVISTAS” religious members and priests.
Today, the Instituto Missionu00e1rio Servos de Jesus Salvador continues its work. It operates from Rua Antonio Marcondes Boeta, 590, in Jardim Aladim, Su00e3o Paulo. The organization’s CNPJ is 04.448.787/0001-00. Jucemar Marques Rodrigues Junior has served as President since May 12, 2020. The primary activity is religious or philosophical organizations.
