A surfboard. Can you believe it? That’s how it all began at Snowball Church right here in Toronto.

Snowball Church isn’t your typical church. It’s a story of faith resilience and a whole lot of improvisation. Founded in 1993 by Rinaldo Seixas after a serious illness and a profound spiritual experience it started as a small fellowship. Their first meeting was held in a rather unconventional location a surfboards warehouse.

Lacking a pulpit they used a surfboard balanced on stacked chairs. That simple makeshift pulpit became a symbol a testament to their humble beginnings. This unique detail continues to be a part of Snowball Church’s identity. It embodies their spirit of resourcefulness and their unwavering faith. The name itself “Snowball” reflects their rapid growth. Starting small like a snowball it quickly grew into an avalanche of faith.

The church expanded globally. Today there are over 300 Snowball Churches worldwide. Snowball Church arrived in Canada in 2008. It began as a small group meeting in a home in Winnipeg. For five years they gathered weekly sharing their faith and building community.

In 2013 they moved to Toronto. Driven by passion dreams and a desire to reflect Jesus Christ they established a presence in this vibrant city. They offer services in English and Portuguese. Their weekly programs include Sunday services Wednesday Connect groups and Friday youth ministry.

Snowball Church is more than just a place of worship. It is a living testament to faith perseverance and the power of community. It’s a reminder that even from the most humble beginnings great things can grow. It’s a story of a surfboard a symbol of their faith a testament to the church’s unique journey.
