From a living room to a movie theater, then finally to its own building. That’s the incredible journey of Cypress Point Community Church. Here at 15820 Morris Bridge Road in Thonotosassa, Florida, the Cypress Point Community Church stands as a testament to faith and community. In 1998, Dean and Heidi Reule, residents of Cross Creek, felt a calling to establish a nondenominational Christian church in the burgeoning New Tampa area. They started with a small group of families in a living room, sharing Bible studies and prayers. As their congregation expanded, they moved to larger venues. They even held services at the Hunter’s Green Model & Visitor Center and the Muvico Starlight 20 movie theater. Today, Cypress Point Community Church welcomes over 700 worshippers weekly to its 30,000-square-foot home. Cypress Point Community Church is more than just a place of worship. It’s a hub of community outreach and support. The church’s Care Center provides groceries to 48 families monthly. They have dedicated ministries for military personnel and firefighters. They deliver food to local fire stations and offer support to military families, especially during deployments. Cypress Point Community Church’s impact extends globally. They have missions in Thailand and Laos, working with at-risk youth and supporting Christian minorities. Here in Tampa, the church fosters interfaith connections with the neighboring Daarus-Salaam Mosque. They share picnics and open house events, building bridges of love and respect. Cypress Point Community Church also focuses on family. They offer a variety of programs for children and young adults. They aim to partner with families to raise spiritually strong children. This church has a robust youth program. They recently completed a 10,000-square-foot youth center with a gym, basketball court, recreation area, and café. They are also looking to start a special-needs youth program. Cypress Point Community Church offers two Sunday services at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. It truly is a community built on faith, service, and love.
