He was a sacrifice for sins according to the Scriptures. Gateway Church believes Jesus was raised from the dead. He ascended into heaven. He now acts as the only mediator between God and people.
Gateway Church believes in the Holy Spirit. They believe the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. His ministry applies the saving work of Christ. He brings conviction of a person’s need for forgiveness. The Holy Spirit regenerates hearts. He permanently indwells believers. His ongoing work guides instructs and empowers believers. He helps them live godly lives.
Gateway Church values humanity. They believe people were created in God’s image. God wants a loving relationship with people. However people have rebelled against God. They choose to go their own way. People are separated from God. They suffer corruption because of sin. This fall from God can be reversed. It can be done through faith in Jesus Christ. He offers forgiveness of sins.
Gateway Church emphasizes salvation. They believe Jesus Christ died as a substitute. He paid the death penalty people owed. Good works cannot restore people. Only God’s grace can save. People are saved from alienation. This grace is received by changing hearts. People must turn toward God’s leadership. They must have faith in Jesus. He forgives sins.
Gateway Church is about spiritual growth. Transformation and life change show a connection to God. People must pursue a real relationship with God. He will change them to be more like Christ. This requires willingness. It requires intentionality. Gateway calls this “The Way of Christ”. It means being intentional about spiritual growth. It involves loving God building character and loving people. It means being the Body of Christ.
Gateway Church is a universal church. It is composed of people who have asked Jesus Christ for forgiveness. These people have made Him the leader of their lives. The diversity of believers working together builds up the body of Christ. The scripture commands believers to gather together. They devote themselves to worship prayer and teaching. They use their gifts to build one another up. They participate in outreach communion and baptism. Jesus Christ is the Lord and Head of the Church. Each local church can govern its own affairs under Christ.
