Dulin United Methodist Church

Gazing at Dulin United Methodist Church, imagine the echoes of sermons past. Dulin United Methodist Church has been a spiritual cornerstone in Falls Church since 1869. Its story begins much earlier, however. It stretches back to the mid-18th century, in the parlor of William and Ann Adams. Their home, Church Hill, hosted Methodist gatherings as early as 1750. This makes it one of the earliest known Methodist preaching sites in Virginia. The congregation’s journey led them from Church Hill to Fairfax Chapel, a pivotal point in their history. Located at what is now Oakwood Cemetery, Fairfax Chapel served the community before Dulin United Methodist Church’s current structure existed. The church even houses a piece of that history. The mantel from Church Hill is displayed near the sanctuary. Dulin United Methodist Church stands on land donated by William Y. Dulin in 1867. The first sanctuary was built on East Broad Street just two years later. Since then, Dulin United Methodist Church has seen three major expansions. Its name also evolved, reflecting its connection to the Methodist denomination. Throughout its existence, Dulin United Methodist Church has focused on four core principles.
