Right here stands Alumni Hall a testament to history and transformation. Originally two townhouses built in the late 19th century they became the heart of Georgetown’s alumni community in 1951. The University actually owned the land since 1930. But for years renters occupied the space.
Imagine those early days. Alumni meetings in modest rooms. The buzz of connection growing. Then came a grand transformation. In 2005 a massive renovation project combined five townhouses into one unified building. Coakley-Williams Construction Co led the effort. Outerbridge Horsey Associates were the architects. The cost a whopping $5510000.
Today Alumni Hall is much more than just a building. It’s a place where memories are made. The library and study area sit on the very spot where Stan’s Market once stood. A winter garden provides a stunning venue for lectures and receptions. The facility includes a gallery for art displays. The original combined space of the four townhouses was 7197 square feet. The renovation added a full basement. This increased the space to 10600 square feet.
