Did the walls of kath. Pfarrkirche Am Tabor whisper secrets of resilience?  Let’s uncover them together. The kath. Pfarrkirche Am Tabor stands as a testament to faith’s enduring power. It’s more than just a building. It embodies a story of resurrection, both literal and figurative.  The original church, a repurposed factory building on Rueppgasse, was consecrated in 1935. This “Notkirche,” spearheaded by Prälat Josef Gorbach and designed by Clemens Holzmeister, served the community until its destruction during the war. Imagine the congregation finding solace within those factory walls. But the story doesn’t end there. Rising from the ashes, like the very resurrection it celebrates, the kath. Pfarrkirche Am Tabor found its new home on Hochstettergasse.  Architect Ladislaus Hruska meticulously planned the new church, navigating the complexities of integrating it into a residential complex. Eight designs later, construction began in 1967. Now, look at the facade. It’s a vibrant tapestry created by Arik Brauer in 1996.  Inside, the artistry continues. A crucifix by Peter Sellemond commands attention, while Günther Kraus’ Krastaler rock crystal tabernacle adds a touch of ethereal beauty. Georg Zauner’s reliefs, Stations of the Cross, and baptismal font complete the spiritual ambiance. And listen closely. Can you hear the whispers of the 19-register organ, built between 1978 and 1980 by the Oberösterreichische Orgelbauanstalt St. Florian? The kath. Pfarrkirche Am Tabor isn’t just a place of worship. It’s a symbol of hope, a testament to the power of community, and a living story etched in stone and art.
