From humble beginnings on Galston Road the Hornsby Heights Baptist Church stands as a testament to faith and community. Its story begins not in grand architecture but in the dedication of a small group. In 1962 an outreach Sunday School from Hornsby Baptist Church found a home in Rofe Park. This wasn’t a permanent structure. It was a beginning. A seed of faith planted in the fertile ground of Hornsby Heights.
The Heights Church as it’s known today is a result of this small beginning. The first official meeting was held in 1963 in an old building affectionately called the cottage. This humble start contrasts sharply with the present church building. This structure built in 1967 stands as a symbol of growth. The land a gift from Mr Wheelhouse a local resident who was impressed by the Sunday School’s work. His generosity laid the foundation for the church’s enduring legacy.
Hornsby Heights Baptist Church isn’t just bricks and mortar. It’s a community a family of believers. For over 50 years it welcomed individuals and families from all walks of life. In 2016 the church underwent a name change. It became The Heights Church reflecting a desire to connect with contemporary generations. This new name however does not erase the history of Hornsby Heights Baptist Church. Its rich past its dedication and its ongoing ministry are integral parts of its identity. The church continues its mission of service and outreach. It seeks to be a beacon of hope and a source of spiritual nourishment for the community it serves.
