In 1985, Mrs. Peterson, a resident of Lentegeur, dreamt of a high school for her community. Her dream became reality. Aloe High School opened its doors at 16 Aloe Street in Lentegeur, Mitchells Plain, Cape Town. Aloe High School stands proudly as a symbol of community effort and aspiration within the vibrant City of Cape Town. This public school, known also as Aloe Secondary School, serves the Lentegeur suburb. It’s officially recognized by the South African Schools Act of 1996. Children aged 7 to 15 are mandated to attend, with specific age requirements for grades R and 1. Aloe High School holds the Quintile 5 classification. This means it’s a fee-paying institution. Government funding supplements tuition fees, as the allocated funds per learner don’t cover all expenses. In 2023, Aloe High School had a student population of 1114 learners. These students were guided by a team of 35 dedicated educators, resulting in a student-teacher ratio of 32:1. The school’s uniform policy, governed by the South African Schools Act of 1996, aims to foster unity and discipline. The school has experienced growth and changing enrollment numbers over the years. In 2021, 1148 learners attended. The number dipped slightly to 1093 in 2022, before rising again to 1114 in 2023. Aloe High School’s 2024 matric pass rate was a commendable 86.7%, a significant jump from the 63.9% achieved in 2023. Out of 158 matriculants, 137 passed. The school is led by Principal E. Wertheim. They can be reached at +27 21 371 0552. So, as you stand before Aloe High School, remember Mrs. Peterson’s dream. It blossomed into this vital educational institution.
