Bursting with Wilhelminian and Art Nouveau architecture, the Heusteigviertel is located south of Stuttgart. It is a creative district. Cafés, restaurants and worthwhile shops are here for you. The closed block development with large inner courtyards is typical. Since 2001, the Heusteigviertel has been a district in the Stuttgart-Mitte district.

The Heusteigviertel is bordered by several streets. These include Schlosserstrasse, Katharinenstrasse and Olgastrasse. Also Charlottenstrasse, Alexanderstrasse and Weissenburgstrasse mark the boundary.

The historical Heusteigviertel has different borders. These are Hauptstätter Strasse, Wilhelmstrasse, Olgastrasse and Filderstrasse. It borders Lehenviertel, Bohnenviertel and Bopser.

Did you know that remnants of Roman settlements were found at Heusteig-/Bopserstrasse corner? Immenhofen village was north of Wilhelmsplatz in the 6th and 7th centuries.

Let’s talk about the Eduard-Pfeiffer-Haus. It stands at Heusteigstrasse 45. This historicist building was built in 1887. It was a residence for single men. The “Verein für das Wohl der arbeitenden Klassen” built it. Social reformer Eduard Pfeiffer chaired the association. Today, it mainly serves as a residential complex. It has over 30 apartments.

The Eduard-Pfeiffer-Haus has a hall for cultural events. After World War II, the Württemberg Landtag met here. Then the Baden-Württemberg Landtag met here until 1961. The ABV-Zimmertheater’s venue is in the basement.

The bus line 43 runs along Olgastrasse. This provides public transport in the Heusteigviertel.
