The College Park Church of God isn’t just a building. It’s a congregation of people. They share a sincere desire to worship in spirit and in truth.
The members of College Park Church of God have no denominational affiliation. Still, they recognize a particular fellowship in Christ with other congregations. They simply refer to themselves as Christians. This mirrors the early Christians of the first century. Remember Acts 11:26.
The church believes in the authority of the New Testament. This guides everything they do both as a congregation and as individuals. They strive to model their worship after Jesus and His apostles. They look to the teachings in 2 Timothy 3:16-17.
Every activity in the assembly is carefully thought out. Each member is encouraged to participate with a sincere and willing heart. They meet every Sunday for worship. This is found in Acts 20:7.
The Lord’s Supper is offered each Sunday. This is how the Lord instituted it. It’s in memory of His suffering and death on the cross found in Matthew 26:26-28.
Music at College Park Church of God comes from the heart. It is a capella. This means they sing without musical instruments. That is mentioned in Ephesians 5:19.
Their prayers are not ritualistic. They are prayers of thanksgiving and petition. They seek God’s grace and His will for their lives. This is found in 1 Timothy 2:1-3.
Preaching the Word of God is an important part of their assemblies. God speaks through the Bible. It’s His inspired Word. The reading and teaching from the scriptures is an integral part. This is mentioned in 2 Timothy 4:2.
Giving each Sunday is freely offered. It supports the work of the Lord. This includes evangelism both local and across the world. Benevolence is also supported and additional works of the congregation. This is in 1 Corinthians 16:1-2.
The entire Lord’s Day assembly is planned and organized. This ensures it is conducted decently and in order. That is mentioned in 1 Corinthians 14:40.
Salvation comes only through Jesus Christ. People are saved by obeying the gospel of Jesus Christ. Look at Romans 1:16, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 and 2 Timothy 1:10. The gospel is the good news about Jesus. He came to earth to save mankind. He died on the cross, was buried and arose from the grave. He was victorious over death.
To obey the gospel means to go through death, burial and resurrection with Christ. This happens through faith. It’s mentioned in Romans 6:17. The Bible teaches that you must believe and place your faith in Jesus. He offered Himself as the sacrifice for your sins. See John 8:24.
You must resolve to repent. Turn away from your sins mentioned in Luke 13:3. Confess openly your faith in Jesus as the Son of God. See Matthew 10:32-33. You must be buried or immersed in baptism for the remission of your sins. That’s found in Acts 2:38 and Romans 6:1-6.
Obedience to the gospel in baptism is how the blood of Christ washes away sins. This is mentioned in Acts 22:16. It demonstrates the death of your old life. It is the burial of who you were before. It’s a resurrection to a new life committed to Christ.
Salvation is the work of God upon our souls. It happens when we are obedient to His will. Our salvation in Christ is an eternal life in Heaven. That is in 1 John 2:25.
