How quickly a place can change. After World War II, Rodaun experienced a massive housing boom due to the construction of numerous apartment buildings. Right here, a little further out, the Pfarrkirche Rodaun was built. This new construction led to a shift in the town center. The new buildings were far from the original center around the Bergkirche near the Liesing River. To accommodate the growing population, a plot of land was purchased for a new parish center on May 27, 1952. This location was chosen specifically for its proximity to the new housing developments. The Pfarrkirche Rodaun was designed by Johann Petermair and consecrated on October 10, 1954. This marked the birth of the Pfarrkirche Rodaun as we know it! Initially an annex of the Bergkirche, the Pfarrkirche Rodaun gained its parish independence on December 22, 1964. The establishment of the Pfarrkirche Rodaun stands as a testament to Rodaun’s growth and the evolving needs of its residents.
