Established by the British Hong Kong Government, Kwun Tong Government Secondary School aimed to provide quality education. The school is located at 9 Shun Chi Street, Shun Chi Court, Shun Lee, Kowloon. Kwun Tong Government Secondary School is a co-educational institution. English serves as the primary medium of instruction. This emphasis on English prepares students for global engagement.
Kwun Tong Government Secondary School fosters a sense of community. Students are divided into four houses. These are Sing, Shun, Kan and Him. Each house promotes camaraderie and friendly competition.

The student union organizes events and activities. Aslan is the current student union for the 2023-24 school year. They won with 358 votes.
The school has had several principals throughout its history. Mrs. To Kwong Wai Yin, Ella, was the founding principal in 1982. Ms. Ip Lai Hung is the current principal since 2018. Each principal has contributed to the school’s growth and success.
In January 2023, Kwun Tong Government Secondary School implemented guidelines for guest speakers. Speakers must submit their speeches in advance. The school does not allow political messages or stances.
