“Troja plans” is a tradition here. Each year Galerie U lávky starts the exhibition season with it. It is a showcase of projects from the local council, schools, and associations.

Galerie U lávky is a cultural gem in Prague’s Troja district. It is a non-commercial space run by the city. You will find it at Povltavská 21/42.

But first let’s talk about the building itself. The building dates back to 1875. It served as a school until 1928. After the new Czechova school was built the old building was renovated. It then became a home for senior citizens.

The idea for Galerie U lávky came from Oldřich Adámek. He was the mayor back then. He and his team transformed the unused ground floor into a gallery.

The first exhibition at Galerie U lávky opened in October 2001. It featured photos by Jaroslav Rajzík. These photos showed the Troja landscape. There were also panoramas by Josef Sudek. This exhibition sparked the idea for a permanent gallery in Troja.

Galerie U lávky was named for its proximity to the Troja bridge. After the bridge collapsed in 2017, the gallery was renamed Galerie U zřícené lávky which translates to Gallery at the collapsed bridge.

The gallery space is intimate at only 50 square meters. It regularly hosts professional art exhibitions. Both established artists and art students display their work here. Stanislav Holý, Václav Sivko, and Jiří Sozanský have exhibited here. Also Jaroslava Pešicová, Boris Jirků, and Helena Horálková. The Hollar association of graphic artists is among many others exhibited at Galerie U lávky.

Vernissages here are special. They often include music, dance, and singing. The Troja city district manages the gallery. The curator was Jan Kavan until 2023. Since 2023, Ladislava Popovska is the curator.

The goal is to showcase a wide range of art. The art should be appealing but also high quality. There is a high demand to exhibit here. The gallery is only open Friday to Sunday. Every two months, the exhibitions change.

Trojské plány is an annual tradition. It showcases projects from Troja’s local government. Also Troja’s schools, associations, companies, and organizations are represented.

You can learn about plans for the riverfront promenade. It runs from Bubenč to Stromovka. Also the concept for the Povltavská promenade. You can explore the conservation efforts in Troja. Plus the project for Císařský ostrov and its new water tram.

The Galerie U lávky is located in the House of Happy Seniors. Find it at Povltavská 21/42 in Prague-Troja. Stop by and immerse yourself in the local art scene.
