Fairhaven quickly blossomed, fueled by dreams of becoming the western terminus of the Great Northern Railroad. Promoters, including Nelson Bennett and C.X. Larrabee, painted a picture of a land brimming with opportunity. Their efforts paid off, as the population exploded from a mere 150 in 1889 to a bustling 8,000 just one year later.
