Isn’t it fascinating how buildings can hold such a wealth of history? This stunning example of Neo-Renaissance architecture, the Palais Festetics, stands before us as a testament to a bygone era. The Palais Festetics was built in 1858. It was designed by the renowned architect duo, Johann Julius Romano and August Schwendenwein. They created this architectural masterpiece for Countess Eugénie Festetics von Tolna. The Palais Festetics has witnessed a fascinating evolution throughout its existence. Originally a private residence, it later housed the Austrian Trade Museum. In 1898, the k.k. Exportakademie, a school for international trade, joined the museum within these walls. This academy eventually paved the way for the establishment of the Vienna University of Economics and Business in 1919. Today, the Palais Festetics stands as a reminder of Vienna’s rich history, whispering tales of its aristocratic past and its contributions to education and trade.
