Imagine a hidden world. It lies just a short distance southwest of the Grotta dei Colombi d’Aurisina. That world is the Grotta Nuova a S della Stazione di Aurisina. This cave offers a fascinating glimpse into the earth’s hidden beauty.

Grotta Nuova a S della Stazione di Aurisina holds secrets beneath the surface. Its main entrance, marked with a sign, invites exploration. The entrance sits at 155 meters above sea level. GPS coordinates pinpoint its location deep in the Carso Triestino.

Let’s venture into the Grotta Nuova a S della Stazione di Aurisina. A narrow descent leads to an irregular chamber. Whitish concretions adorn the space in diverse shapes. The floor is covered with debris. A tight passage opens to another slightly larger chamber. Its floor is earthy.

On the opposite wall a subtle recess hides a narrow 3-meter shaft. Alternatively a short climb leads to a richly decorated niche. It features stalactites and a slender stalagmite around 40 cm tall. From here a low passage roughly one meter high leads to an impassable section. This connects to a space accessible from the initial chamber via a 1.2-meter drop.

Continuing onward within Grotta Nuova a S della Stazione di Aurisina we find another chamber. Above it a chimney suggests a former link to the surface. To the right next to small columns lies the entrance to a 3-meter shaft. This leads to a tiny space. Passing a narrow point brings you to the most beautiful part of Grotta Nuova a S della Stazione di Aurisina.

The spaces enlarge and the path reveals concretions pools and water basins. Further descent leads to the bottom of this chamber. Ascending the opposite side reveals a grand portal draped with stalactites. It opens to a steeply sloping gallery. The ground formed by calcite ends in a clay base. The irregular vault rises to create a cavern exceeding 15 meters in height.

At about 6 meters high a muddy ascending branch ends in a calcitic choke. Descending from the cavern leads to another wider cavern. Its floor is nearly horizontal. Columns and beautiful stalagmites rise here. From this point the cave floor is quickly reached. Another branch diverges from the main path. A tunnel leads to an irregular chamber filled with damp clay. A small passage between the vault and clay reveals a small shaft. A faint draft sometimes flows from here within Grotta Nuova a S della Stazione di Aurisina.

Grotta Nuova a S della Stazione di Aurisina extends 107 meters horizontally. It reaches a depth of 40 meters. The lowest point lies at 115 meters above sea level. This cave provides a multi-dimensional experience.
