In fact, a dedicated company, Ebswien Kläranlage & Tierservice, was established in 1976 to manage the plant’s operations. Today, they oversee a complex network of machinery, including five massive compactors and a sophisticated pumping system that ensures every drop of Vienna’s wastewater is treated. The plant’s efficiency is truly remarkable. Over 95% of contaminants are removed before the treated water is released into the Donaukanal. It’s a testament to Vienna’s commitment to environmental sustainability, hidden in plain sight.
