Since 1993 Belair Baptist Church has been a beacon of faith in Bowie Maryland. It’s more than just a building. It’s a community. A family. Pastor Gary Kohl arrived in 1993. He’d served as a chaplain in the United States Air Force. He felt a calling to ministry. He’s been leading this congregation ever since.
Belair Baptist Church isn’t just about Sunday services. It cares deeply about people. It embraces people of all ages backgrounds and walks of life. They offer Bible studies marriage enrichment and family activities. The church actively supports missions worldwide combating hunger both globally and locally. They provide a food pantry. They also strive to make single adults feel welcome and involved.
A significant milestone occurred in 2000. Belair Baptist Christian Academy opened its doors. This was a remarkable achievement. It’s a testament to the church’s dedication to children and their education. Pastor Kohl also serves as the academy’s administrator. He combines his pastoral duties with his commitment to the academy.
The church observes traditional Sunday services. The first Sunday of each month features a breakfast potluck at 930 am. Every Sunday morning worship begins at 1100 am. On Wednesdays there’s a prayer meeting at 600 pm. The church shares its beliefs openly. They highlight the importance of faith in Jesus Christ. They stress the significance of personal repentance and acceptance of Jesus into one’s life.
Belair Baptist Church is much more than a place of worship. It’s a vibrant hub for community engagement and spiritual growth. It’s a place where people feel loved supported and connected to a larger purpose. It’s a place where faith is celebrated and lives are transformed. It’s a church actively shaping the lives of its members and the wider community. It’s a story of faith community and service. A story continuing to unfold.
