The name Jesenice comes from “jesenná”. This refers to a meadow or stream near ash trees. Jesenice became a town in 2015. Before that, it was the Czech Republic’s largest village.
Jesenice has four parts. These are Jesenice, Horní Jirčany, Osnice and Zdiměřice. Zdiměřice had a population of 1,687 in 2021.
