Ferries have linked Hong Kong and Macau for a long time. They date back to the early days of the Hong Kong colony. In the mid-20th century, ferries departed from the old Macau Ferry Piers. Several companies offer services to ports in Guangdong. Destinations include Shekou and Nansha. Other services to Guangdong depart from other terminals.
The Shun Tak Heliport is located above the inner pier of the terminal. It has two helipads and a customer lounge. The original heliport was built in 1990. An expansion project in 2008 added a new helipad and passenger lounge.
Sky Shuttle helicopters use the heliport. They provide scheduled service to Macau. Flights run frequently using AgustaWestland AW139 helicopters. The journey time is about 16 minutes. Sky Shuttle also offers charter services to other regional airports.
Each ferry passenger pays an improvement fee. Helicopter passengers aged 12 or above pay an improvement fee and aviation service fee.
