Established in 1990 by Margaret Adat, Gentec International has become a prominent name in Canadian consumer electronics distribution. Gentec International started its journey distributing photography accessories. They quickly outgrew their initial spaces, eventually settling into their current 100,000 square foot distribution center in Markham, Ontario in 1998. Gentec International has broadened its scope over the years. They now handle electronics, mobile accessories, home audio, sporting goods, and car audio. Gentec International employs around 100 full-time staff. They manage a complex operation, distributing products from over sixty brands across six different markets. This includes well-known names like Sigma, SanDisk, Manfrotto, Zeiss, Sony, Klipsch, and Alpine. Gentec International has also formed key partnerships. In 2012, they partnered with Alpine Electronics, taking over sales, marketing, and service for their mobile media solutions in Canada. In 2013, they began distributing Vitec products, including Manfrotto, Gitzo, Kata Bags, and National Geographic Bags. Gentec International continued to expand their portfolio with the distribution of Joby and Lowepro in 2017, following Vitec Group’s acquisition of these brands. In 2018, they launched Kustomworx, a facility aimed at providing commercial installers and businesses with home and commercial audio and video technology. Gentec International isn’t just a distributor. They’ve been recognized for their business practices. They’ve been named one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies for sixteen years. This speaks to their commitment to excellence and their contribution to the Canadian consumer market.
