香港萬善堂

Established in 1964, the Hong Kong Man Shin Church, also known as the 萬善堂, has a rich history. It began in 1930 on Hoi Street in Guangzhou. Pastor Han Li and his wife, missionaries from the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church, founded it. They named it Man Shin, meaning “ten thousand goodness.” Later, Pastor Li Chi-kwan joined in 1933. The church thrived, adding a school, middle school, and orphanage. Disrupted by political upheaval, the church’s activities were suspended. In 1960, the Lees returned from America to revive Man Shin Church. Initially, they gathered with around 80 people, borrowing space from the Hong Kong Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. In 1961, they secured a location on Wharf Road. Then in 1963, they moved to their current location on Pan Hoi Street. They also expanded their ministry. They began outreach in the Kwun Tong District in 1967, establishing a branch there in 1972. Pastor Wong Chun-chu now leads that branch. In 1974, they founded another branch in Kowloon. Pastor Lee Hok-yan leads it. The church faced another challenge in 2000. Due to urban redevelopment, they had to give up their main building. They held services at the Ngau Tau Kok Road Primary School until 2001. They returned to the school location in 2004 but continued to look for a permanent home. In 1980, they established a branch on Ting Fu Street, now led by Pastor Yip Ka-kwok. In 2002, the Hong Kong Man Shin Church established its Kowloon Bay branch. They aim to spread the Christian message in this vibrant part of Hong Kong. Today, the Hong Kong Man Shin Church stands as a testament to its resilience and commitment. It continues to serve the community.
