This isn’t just any church in São Paulo. Paróquia São Pedro e São Paulo Apóstolos holds a special place in the heart of the Tremembé neighborhood. Established on December 1st 1926 it’s the 25th parish in the São Paulo Archdiocese. Construction however began much earlier in 1914. Dedicated individuals like Eduardo Vicente de Azevedo his wife Elisa Vidigal João Franco and Manoel Moraes Pontes spearheaded the effort. The patron saint São Pedro honors Pedro Vicente de Azevedo. His wife Maria Amália Lopes de Azevedo’s name graces a street nearby.

The building’s history is a tapestry woven from the lives of many. Padre Dr. Cícero Revoredo was the first priest. He served for two years. Padre João Bueno Gonçalves followed installing the Santíssimo Chapel. He reorganized the Apostolado da Oração and the Pia União forming a parish choir. He laid the groundwork for the Conferência Vicentina and the Congregação Mariana.

Subsequent priests left their mark. Padre Eliseu Murai served briefly before Padre Domingos Herculano Casarin arrived. He inaugurated a magnificent 100-kilogram bell. Padre Bruno Carra a beloved figure served for 33 years. He oversaw the installation of stained-glass windows and the clock. He played a crucial role in establishing the Legião de Maria the Abrigo Frederico Ozanan and the Creche Irmã Albina Cereda now the CEI Pedro Apóstolo. He also guided the formation of the Comunidade Santa Rosa de Lima the CUCA youth group and the Centro de Promoção Humana João XXIII.

Padre Geraldo Alves Pereira led a major renovation. The church you see today reflects his efforts. Padre Maurício Luchini fostered pastoral movements and reopened the daycare center. Padre Benedito Ferreira Borges known for his humble demeanor followed. Then Padre Edimilson da Silva a journalist from Minas Gerais brought renewed energy. He emphasized spirituality good stewardship and community engagement. He fostered adoration services Bible studies and strengthened outreach. He oversaw the renovation of the Creche Pedro Apóstolo. Padre Claudinei de Arruda Lúcio is the current pastor continuing this rich legacy.
