The story of Malvern Christian Assembly began in 1977 as an outreach of Scarborough Gospel Temple. They started a small Sunday school at Burrows Hall Junior Public School. Surprisingly, attendance quickly blossomed to over 100 people. This growth spurred the need for a dedicated space. In May 1978, the church purchased the 3-acre plot of land at 6705 Sheppard Avenue East. The newly formed church became known as Malvern Christian Assembly. The first phase of construction resulted in a sanctuary that could hold 500 people. This was dedicated in September 1981. Malvern Christian Assembly continued to flourish. In 1986, they added a nursery, foyer, and meeting place. The church’s expansion reflects the growth of its congregation. The sanctuary’s capacity increased to 850 in 1999. Then in 2002, new office spaces, a prayer room, a music room, a kitchen, and a gymnasium were added. Today, Malvern Christian Assembly is home to over 1000 people from 45 different nations. It’s a place where people gather every Sunday for praise, worship, prayer, and fellowship. They enjoy refreshments in the gym after each service. Malvern Christian Assembly also hosts mid-week activities. These activities provide opportunities for connection and spiritual growth. The church offers after-school programs, family nights, and sports activities. It strives to be a place where people can believe, belong, and be loved.
