Picture this a bustling community in the late 1960s. Stenhamra was growing rapidly. Many families with children moved there. The existing Sång Parish realized they needed larger more functional community facilities. A suitable plot of land was found. Planning for Stenhamra församlingsgård began in the late 1970s.
The Stenhamra församlingsgård was designed to be a central hub. It would include a large assembly hall. There would also be a smaller meeting room. Spaces for children’s and youth activities were planned. Offices a kitchen and an entrance hall with cloakrooms were also included. Construction started soon after.
The building permit was issued in 1973. Just a year later the building was ready. Stenhamra församlingsgård opened its doors welcoming the community. For about ten years it served its purpose perfectly. However as Stenhamra continued to grow the building needed an extension.
The decision was made to add more space. New facilities including offices for administration a small chapel and another large gathering hall were added. Before this expansion the pastor’s office was inconveniently located. It was far from the town centre and difficult to access for local people. The expansion began in November 1984 and finished in September 1985. This expansion brought the Stenhamra församlingsgård up to date. The community was grateful.
Then in 2015 another expansion began. Stenhamra församlingsgård continued to meet the evolving needs of the growing community. The building stands as a testament.
