Jozef Kąsek was a major in the Polish People’s Army. His exact birthdate and birthplace remain shrouded in mystery. Yet his military career is documented. He commanded a platoon in the 34th Engineer Battalion of the 5th Engineer Brigade. This was from 1945. He rose through the ranks. By 1947 he was a lieutenant. He continued to lead his platoon.

In March 1959 a significant event occurred. Kąsek became the chief of staff of the 5th Engineer Brigade. For a brief period from March 9th to September 19th 1959 he even temporarily commanded the brigade. This shows his competence and trust placed in him. His service continued. From 1960 to 1962 he served in the 73rd Engineer Battalion of the 20th Armored Division.

His career reflects the post-war reorganization of the Polish military. It involved a considerable amount of change. Kąsek’s promotions show steady progress. He rose from a junior officer to a staff position. This is a testament to his skills and dedication.
