The temple and the Estátua de Buda are located in Cotia, within the state of São Paulo. The Zu Lai Temple is linked to the Fo Guang Shan monastery in Taiwan. It represents the Mahayana branch of Buddhism. The temple, and thus also the Estátua de Buda, aims to maintain the tradition of Buddha nature. It makes these teachings available to everyone. Attendees use the teachings of Humanist Buddhism to spread the principles of the Fo Guang Shan monastery. They do this through education, culture, philanthropy, and spiritual purification.
