“Have you any further questions?” This is what the staff at Saint Carolusheim might ask you. Saint Carolusheim is more than just a building. It is a place with a rich history of care and compassion.

The home offers long-term and short-term residential care. Saint Carolusheim also offers assisted living. There are single apartments and larger units available. Some units even have two separate rooms. These are suitable for couples or siblings.

Saint Carolusheim’s story began long ago. The Congregation of the Barmherzigen Schwestern vom hl. Karl Borromäus founded it. This happened on June 18, 1652, in Nancy, Lothringen. The aim was to aid poor people during the Thirty Years’ War.

The sisters began their work in Prague in 1837. They were asked to work in various places in Austria from there.

In 1877, Gräfin Wenckheim-Zichy founded an asylum for elderly people in Vienna. The Borromäische Schwestern from Prague managed it. Two single-story houses were bought in 1879. The location is where Saint Carolusheim stands today.

The name was changed to St. Carolusheim in 1976. St. Carolus GmbH was founded in 2013. In October 2023, the Barmherzigen Schwestern began cooperating with CS Caritas Socialis Privatstiftung.

The founding motto of the Borromäischen Schwestern is very important. It states to seek out poor and abandoned sick people. It says to care for, support, and comfort them. It also includes providing them with the holy sacraments. In short, it emphasizes caring for all their needs.

Saint Carolusheim follows the Eden Alternative care philosophy. This philosophy focuses on the well-being of everyone living and working here. It emphasizes joy and courage in providing care.

The institution’s guiding principles are based on four pillars. These pillars ensure quality of life and care.

Many people work to make life at Saint Carolusheim as pleasant as possible. This includes staff in care and support. It includes cleaning staff and administrative staff. There are also technicians, kitchen staff, and chaplains. The facility also has nuns and volunteers.

Saint Carolusheim has 144 care places. Residents have a free choice of doctor.

Saint Carolusheim welcomes visits from family and friends. You can find more information on the website. You can also call or email to arrange a visit.
