Miyakubo Elementary School. A school brimming with history, nestled here in Ichikawa. Did you know this school has a history as vibrant as the city itself? Miyakubo Elementary first opened its doors in 1949. It was established within the grounds of Miyakojima Elementary School. The current building we see before us wasn’t completed until 1951, marking a new chapter for the school. Just two years later, in 1953, Miyakubo Elementary earned a prestigious designation from the Ministry of Education for its “Insect Prevention” program. Imagine the dedication of the students and staff. Over the years, Miyakubo Elementary has seen many changes and milestones. In 1964, it welcomed 26 students from Ichikawa City Kita Elementary School. Later, in 1972, 156 students transferred from Ichikawa City Hyakudai Elementary School, further shaping the school’s diverse community. Fast forward to 1973, and Miyakubo Elementary celebrated its 10th anniversary. A testament to its growing influence, the school was designated a research school by Ichikawa City in 1989. The research focused on graphic arts and was open to the public. This commitment to education and community engagement has continued to define Miyakubo Elementary, contributing to its rich tapestry of stories and experiences.
