Imagine waking up in 1800. You find yourself in a brand new settlement. This is Nové Jirny. It sits on land that was once part of a vast forest.

Nové Jirny is a village in the Central Bohemian Region. It is part of the municipality of Jirny. The village lies about 1.5 kilometers south of Jirny.

The story of Nové Jirny begins around 1800. Several houses were built near a gamekeeper’s lodge and farm. These were located in the upper forest. The community began to grow quickly. By 1980, there were 204 houses with 501 residents.

Even though Nové Jirny grew, it was always under the administration of Jirny. According to military maps, the village existed in the 1770s. It was known as Novi Gyrnau then.

In 1809, Nové Jirny had only nine houses. Today, there are over 400. Nové Jirny is located 6 km from Prague’s northeastern border. It sits half a kilometer south of Jirny. It is 231 meters above sea level.

In Lovecká Street, there used to be a small military unit. Soldiers built a concrete pool with a fountain in 1972. They kept pets like dogs, cats, rabbits and even a fish in the pool.

Nové Jirny has a chapel in the village square. It is dedicated to Saint Rosalia and dates back to 1872. At a forest crossroads in Dubina stands a niche chapel. This chapel is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and was built in 1914. There is also a cottage settlement near the village.

Today, Nové Jirny is known for modern residences. These residences combine modern style with classic rural elements. The villas have about 300 square meters of usable area. Each has land from 823 to 1023 square meters. Construction began in August 2024. Completion is planned for early 2026.

You can find civic amenities in Nové Jirny. There is a shop and accommodation. You can find selected services and a playground. Public bus transport is available. The Klánovice Forest-Cyrilov Nature Reserve is nearby.
