“Ever-blooming Disney tree,” they called it. We’re about to explore the Swiss Family Treehouse 1993 here in Tokyo Disneyland. It’s not just any treehouse. This incredible structure brings the classic Disney film Swiss Family Robinson to life.

The Swiss Family Treehouse opened here on July 21 1993. This version joined others at Disney parks around the world. It’s a walk-through attraction. Guests get to climb and explore the rooms the Robinson family built.

Have you ever wondered how they got water up here? A fascinating pulley system uses bamboo buckets and a waterwheel. It carries water high into the tree. The Swiss flag proudly waves from the top of the Swiss Family Treehouse.

Tokyo Disneyland’s Swiss Family Treehouse offers unique views. From its multiple levels you can see Tokyo Disneyland’s central hub. Some say this makes it the queen of all treehouses. While other Disney Treehouses were opening day attractions, this one in Tokyo was not.

This Swiss Family Treehouse is similar to the one at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. The original Swiss Family Treehouse stood in Disneyland. However that one was transformed into Tarzan’s Treehouse in 1999.

Imagineer Bill Martin designed the first treehouse. Disney animator Wolfgang Reitherman contributed too. He designed the treehouse for the Swiss Family Robinson movie.

The original Swiss Family Treehouse stood 70 feet tall. It was 80 feet wide. Constructed of concrete and reinforced steel, it weighed 150 short tons.

The tree was dubbed “Disneyodendron semperflorens grandis.” This means “large ever-blooming Disney tree.” While seemingly organic, it is entirely man-made. Its roots are concrete. Limbs are steel covered in concrete. Imagine attaching 300000 plastic leaves by hand. That’s how they made it so realistic.

Exploring the Swiss Family Treehouse offers a unique perspective. It blends adventure with the charm of the classic Disney film. It reminds us of resourcefulness family and the magic of imagination.
