In 1955 a community was born. The Donway United Church opened its doors. It served the Don Mills neighbourhood. Members initially gathered at a local school. Then in 1956 a new building rose at 230 The Donway West. This wasn’t just any church. It was a place of gathering. A beacon of hope. A space for community.

Years passed. The Donway United Church thrived. But times change. In 1992 a significant event unfolded. Two congregations merged. The Donway United Church and Covenant United Church Oriole joined forces. A new entity emerged: The Donway Covenant United Church. This union strengthened the community. It created a larger more diverse congregation. This new church retained its commitment to faith. It embraced a wider vision of inclusivity.

The Donway Covenant United Church wasn’t just about tradition. It was a church that looked towards the future. In 2018 it became an affirming congregation.
