Established in 1894 it replaced the old overcrowded cemetery near the Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary. It was a necessary expansion. The old cemetery simply couldn’t handle the growing population.

The cemetery expanded in 1905 and 1912. A mortuary was built. New sections were added to the north and east. Later a scattering meadow and a columbarium were established. A monument was unveiled here on May 4 1947. It honors the three civilian victims of the May 1945 fighting. It stands as a solemn reminder of the war’s impact on this quiet town. The monument is a testament to their memory. It’s a place for reflection and remembrance.
