The parish initially belonged to Santa Maria Parish. It later became part of Santo Antônio Parish.
The community purchased its land and built a hall. Masses were held there until the current church was completed. Father José Aguirre played a crucial role during these formative years. He suggested the name Comunidade Divino Espirito Santo a name that resonated with the community. Now nearly 30 years later the church still stands. It is a testament to the perseverance of the faithful.
Masses at the Comunidade Divino Espirito Santo are held on Tuesdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 9:30 am. Several smaller communities also belong to this parish. These communities hold their own services. Some hold services multiple times a week. Others meet less frequently.
