Wow Look at those planes. This is the Spotterhügel at Vienna Airport. Since November 2013 plane spotters have enjoyed this four-meter-high hill. They can photograph planes taking off and landing up close.
The Spotterhügel wasn’t always here. About 600 cubic meters of earth were brought in to create this special viewing platform. It’s located east of the airport grounds. It’s right where the two runways meet. You can reach the Spotterhügel from Klein-Neusiedl. There’s parking there too.
Families and local residents love the Spotterhügel too. It’s a popular place for outings. Even on weekdays many photographers are here. I heard a story about a young boy. He had gleaming eyes when he saw a Boeing 737 preparing for takeoff. “Mom look a big airplane” he exclaimed.

The Spotterhügel offers fantastic views. You can see planes from very close. It’s a great place to see various aircraft. It’s a unique viewpoint. Remember to park in the designated areas. Avoid driving on the farm tracks. The police give fines for that. Enjoy the incredible experience of witnessing aviation up close. The Spotterhügel is a truly special place.
