Snösätra industriområde began as farmland. Later, it became a military site during World War II. After the war, it housed refugees. In 1958, the area transitioned to storage companies. But a new chapter was about to begin.
In the 1960s, graffiti appeared on Snösätra’s walls. Young locals expressed themselves. The Swedish government implemented a zero-tolerance policy toward graffiti in 1999. This lasted for 15 years. Then everything changed.
In 2014, artists sought permission to paint. This marked the birth of Snösätra Graffiti Wall of Fame. It has since become one of Europe’s largest street art exhibitions. The property owners were happy for the artists to transform their walls.
Snösätra is located in Rågsved. This once run-down industrial area is now a cultural destination. Swedish and international artists contribute each year. There is also an open wall. Anyone who respects the rules can showcase their art.

Kulturkvarter Snösätra is a non-profit organization. They work with urban art culture and events. The organization maintains and develops Snösätragränd. Their aim is to create a platform for free art. Due to demolitions, the association was recently forced to close a gallery in Snösätra. However, the gallery remains online. The association also organizes tours and workshops.
