Remember the Mountain Lodge. It once stood where we are now at Victoria Peak Garden. This garden offers a unique experience. It combines Victorian charm with stunning views.

Victoria Peak Garden sits near Victoria Peak’s summit in Hong Kong. It is a Victorian-style garden. The former Mountain Lodge was an alternate residence for Hong Kong’s Governor. It was demolished but the park remains. Now the Leisure and Cultural Services Department manages it.

From here at Victoria Peak Garden, we have a great view. It captures Victoria Harbour. It also shows Hong Kong’s exotic night scene from over 300m high. The original landscape is still here in the garden. Victoria Peak Garden differs from most Hong Kong parks. Dogs and other pets are allowed.

In 2005, the Hong Kong government announced a redevelopment plan. It included Victoria Peak Garden. The vast open space and grassy lawn were preserved. The stream course remains. Victorian features enhance the garden. Gazebos and benches add to the style. Sun-dials and colourful flowers are here.

A $142.6 million project improved the tourist district. It helped create three new tourism nodes on the Peak. These are Mount Austin Playground, Gate Lodge, and Victoria Peak Garden.

Renovated in 2011, Victoria Peak Garden has Victorian features. These include lawns and gazebos. Wrought iron railings and stone pillars add to the charm. Native trees and paved ground create tranquility.

There are three pavilion designs inside Victoria Peak Garden. This garden is part of the “Inclusive Park for Pets” trial scheme. Visitors can bring their pets.

Let’s go to the Gate Lodge. It is located within Victoria Peak Garden. It was built between 1900 and 1902. It housed the keepers of Mountain Lodge. The Gate Lodge has a Renaissance style. It was declared a monument in 1995.
