“Have you heard of a middle school that opens its doors at night?” That’s the question many asked when Kawaguchi City opened its first public night middle school. It is known as Kawaguchi City Shibanishi Junior High School Yosyun Branch School.
Kawaguchi City Shibanishi Junior High School Yosyun Branch School is not just any school. It’s a beacon of hope. It shines for those seeking education later in life. Established in April 2019, this institution broke ground as Saitama Prefecture’s first public night middle school.
Before 2019, the building was the Kawaguchi City Prefectural Yosyun High School. This high school closed its doors in March 2018. The location was repurposed to create Kawaguchi City Shibanishi Junior High School Yosyun Branch School.
The school’s creation wasn’t without hurdles. Originally slated to move to a new building on the grounds of Kawaguchi City Sashihiro Elementary School in April 2021. Construction was delayed. Soil contamination was discovered on the site. This pushed the move back three years. The school finally moved to its new location in April 2024.
Kawaguchi City Shibanishi Junior High School’s main campus was established much earlier. It was founded in April 1971. It was created by separating from Kawaguchi City High School. In 2013, Kawaguchi City Sashihiro Junior High School was integrated.
The Yosyun Branch School shares the same educational goals as the main campus. It strives to nurture students with rich minds. Students should live life to the fullest.
If you are interested in enrolling, make sure to apply. Applications for the April 2025 entrance are now closed. But do not worry. You can call them for any questions. The phone lines are open weekdays from 2 PM to 7 PM.
