Established in 2006 FATEC Zona Sul stands as a beacon of technological education. The college is located on Rua Frederico Grotte. It resides in the Jardim Sao Luiz area of Sao Paulo.
In March 2006, a significant event took place. Governor Geraldo Alckmin inaugurated FATEC Zona Sul. He was accompanied by Secretário João Carlos de Souza Meirelles. Also present was Laura Laganá. She was the Diretora-Superintendente of CEETEPS. This marked the beginning of a new era for technical education in the Zona Sul.
The creation of FATEC Zona Sul mirrored the success of FATEC Zona Leste. Both were strategically placed in areas lacking quality public education. FATEC Zona Sul aimed to fill this void. It provided opportunities for students in underserved communities.
Alckmin also approved the creation of seven more Fatecs in the state. These included Carapicuíba and Itapetininga. Marília and Pindamonhangaba were also included. Plus, there was Praia Grande and Sao José dos Campos. Finally, Tatuí was part of the expansion.
During the inauguration, Alckmin highlighted the strength of the state’s technical schools. He stated that 12 of the 13 best public schools belonged to the Centro Paula Souza. He emphasized that 95% of Fatec and ETE graduates secured employment.
FATEC Zona Sul offers several courses. These include Análise e Desenvolvimento de Sistemas. Students can also study Desenvolvimento de Software Multiplataforma. Gestão Empresarial and Logística are further options.
The first course offered was Informática. It focused on Gestão de Negócios. There were 80 places available. Classes were held in the afternoon and evening. ETE Zona Sul, co-located with FATEC, offered courses in Administração and Eletrônica. Each course had 80 places in the afternoon and evening. Classes at both institutions began on March 6.
The expansion of technical education boosted regional economic growth. Courses aligned with the productive sector. They also aligned with the job market. This ensured students gained relevant skills.
